Recycled Riddle
July 31, 2008
Question:
What's the difference between Rubberflex recycled flooring and the other recycled floors being marketed to the fitness industry? Aren't they all made from tires?
- L. Harring, Merchantville, N.J.
Answer: You're right. Most of the rubber content of Rubberflex Speckled S(and others) is recycled tires. And for the most part, the manufacturers are all buying ground up used tires. The real difference between the products are the binders that are used in the mix. The better quality the binder, the better the floor. If there is a huge disparity in price from one manufacturer to another, it usually means that “all things aren’t equal”. As a consumer, it’s difficult for you to tell the difference. As a national distributor, Centaur can select from any and all of the manufacturers. Our decisions are based on quality and service from our manufacturers. That’s the only way we can be confident in providing quality when dealing with our clients. If you need “straight talk” regarding products, check out our website or talk to our Reps. Their job is to provide you with information so you can make educated decisions.
